KIS SCHOOL UNIFORM CHANGE

It has been announced that our school uniform is changing. Next year a navy blue shirt and a hoodie will be introduced. It will be compulsory for all new yr 7 students to wear the new uniform from 2014 - but 2014 year 8's will be able to wear the current

Loyal - explain this point more? I THINK you are getting at the fact that people with the current uniform won't be able to hand it down to younger sibling etc???

yellow Hat: I think it is a good idea because our uniforms don't look that well and also kelston need a new style of a new uniform.

black hat: i do not agree with uelese because i think we are using to much money on new stuff instead of spending it on technology etc.

Black hat: I think that the new uniform idea is a very bad idea because people will think that the year 7's go to another school.

I agree to some extent Junior - BUT, It will only be for the one year while we are transitioning between the new uniform. The new uniform may in the long run give our school a better look, maybe it is worth the one year of having two uniforms at KIS?

I like the idea of having new uniforms with a different school logo for 2014 , but i dont like the idea of having next year's year 7's having to buy new uniform instead of having the option to wear older siblings school uniform .

Yes this is good point. Speaking from the black hat, it is going to be a costly venture for parents who have purchased the current uniform for past students and now will have to purchase again!

I agree with you Aachal but I think the year 7's next year should have the option to buy the new uniform or wear the old school uniform .

BUT, then how are we going to fade out the old (current) uniform and get to just having the new one at KIS

I'm happy kelston intermediate is getting new uniform, which include cultural patterns on it it shows we care about people's cultures, but there also has a negative aspect.. the expensive cost instead of younger siblings getting "hand me downs" parents have to pay an extra amount of money :(

You bring in a very good point. The new uniform will be all about us as a school - celebrating our cultures! We should talk about this aspect in class today, I never discussed this with the class when we talked about the uniform change. Thanks Jessica. Miss H :)

Red Hat: I think that our school changing our schools uniform is a bad idea. It will cost our school alot of money to change it and we could be spending the money on more important stuff like Computers,Sports Gear etc

Yellow hat:I agree with kini I think we should wear any kind of shoes because once our lether shoes rip we would have to go and buy another pair which is pretty exspensive,So instead we should be able to bring spare shoes we have at home....That would be the best.

Or people can take care of thier leather shoes and polish them with shoe polish once in a while. That way ,the person can look sharp and thier parents can save money.

Really William? Leather shoes look nice and smart... When you are wearing running shoes around the place it does not look clean and tidy. Keeping a uniformed look keeps everyone on the same page and keeps our school looking as good as we do! :)

I think it is a great idea having a change in uniform, but I also agree with some of the other comments, it will be costly for the families (that want to give their kids hand me downs) and the school.

That isn't the purpose though Josh? It will not remain a different uniform for Yr 7 and 8's... This will only be in the transition year so that current year 7s wont have to buy another uniform for next year when they only purchased one at the start of this year...

you shouldn't be looking at the small aspects of the uniform, you should be focusing on the bigger picture sure the expense may have an impact but having the new look, cultural designs isn't that showing/sending parents we are welcoming and caring about their kids?

How do I feel about the new uniform....

I think it is great that we are getting a new uniform because the school needs a change and it is great that that change is in the uniform.I also think that it will make us stand out better as a school. I think it is also a bummer for the year 7's (this year)soon to be year 8's have to spend more money to buy a new uniform.other than that I think it will be a great idea and will hopefully be a success for 2014.

I think the new uniforms are a waste of money for parents and I think that we should use the money for renovating the school for the year 7 next year.

saying that the money should be used for new technology, the money used was probably saved for this kind of occasion, we have new technology coming in for the new yr7's aswell as new uniform so money has nothing to worry about. (besides their parents)

I disagree because if you think about it is like all of Kelston is changing and i don't want that to happen its good to be unique and that's what we are because having new year 7's wearing different clothes to us is just weird if i was for the new year 7 and 8 it would be fine :)
