Black Hat: The Negatives for this is that a 14 year old boy is in a critically condition at Middlemore with extremely bad cuts and burns to seventy percent of his body another negative is that the family dog was killed and was buried yesterday. Another negative is that the 14 year old boy couldn't get out quick another so he would get awful burns and cuts all over his body

Black Hat:
*The bad things about this article is that they might've not have a fire alarm to warn them that there's a fire in the house.

White hat:
* A fourteen year old boy got burned.
* 70 percent of his body got burned.
* There was a small child a Dad and the boy who got out of the house.
* It happened just before midnight.

The good thing is that the 14 year old boy is recovering and was not killed by this tragedy. The lucky boy is very fortunate to be alive.

I think it would be very terrifying and scary to wake up and see flames all around you. It will also be scary to dive out of a window but because of unexpected happenings it was the only thing the poor boy could do. The thought that your siblings might be trapped inside the rubble and you are safe will cause a lot of sad feelings but he must of been relieved when he found out his siblings were not in the house at the time of the fire.

Black hat:
The fourteen year-old teen was covered in extremely bad cuts all over him. Seventy percent of the teens body was burned. His little sister was also injured and was in the hospital. It was a disastrous tragedy.

Yellow hat:
The teens little sister was later discharged from the hospital. The teen also did not die even with that many injuries and burns.

I would rather find that as an red hat, because the blue hat is the 'BIG PICTURE' basically what you wouldn't find reading the exact words but you would find if you think hard and look behind the text... & look at the whole concept!!!

No offense

there's no actual physical fight by the way, your thinking in the opposite direction or angle (i think) the fight that they're talking about is that he's fighting to stay alive.

I think this incident is terrible which is why I have agreed with jurnee by using the red hat in this case.Retorical question, why is a 3-year-old playing with a lighter in the first place.it must be terrible to wake up to a whole bunch of flames. I think those people were brave enough to survive that fire with burns and wouns. But i am glad this boy is alive after 70% of his had been burnt off.

Red Hat and Black Hat:
First of all,Miss Hickmer why do you have to put such horrible NZ Herald articles on as homework?
Anyway as I was saying, this teenager as he was fighting for his life escaping the buring house, it was quite sad as I read on... 70% of his body was burned and severe gashes!!That is just OOOOOOOO!!!! Also having the family members of Rangitihi Tamati see this horrible thing happen.Having Rangitihi and his baby sister Edwina hving to go to the hopistal after was bad enough but that didn't stop there. Rangitihi's cousin Julius woken up by the sound screaming and seeing Rangitihi fall to the groung with flames burning on him. Seeing also blood everywhere and his shirt that melted into his body. They still can't find what caused his house fire...Overall,his was a disasterous house fir for Rangitihi's family and himself.

GrEeN HaT:

The only possible alternatives I see is that, despite the fact that he is 70% burnt, the 14 year old boy who is now in hospital caused by fire, still from my point of view has a chance of living, but however he must be fighting between DEATH & LIFE!!!

I ThInK BlUe HaT:

If this 14 year old boy however lives, but with different problems like bruises, burnt marks, something he can't do like walk or sit or eat etc...

Then I would regret my living, & rather die...

I mean it is no use of lives when you can't walk, talk, eat, shower... or maybe can't even do work or what if you feel like going to the movies or some place for fun...

But if he lives without the bruises etc... then i would never hesitate of living in this world!!!

BLUE HAT, I thought this article was VERY heartbreaking, I mean if u think about him just getting burnt and hurt, think about Rangitihi's feelings; woken up by terrifying screams then facing a near death experience (but luckily escaped) and suddenly thinking your family is still indangered but your too weak to help and still in shock by witnessing all of this... even for me that can be traumitizing imagine how he would feel.

I'm sorry if it was too long but the teacher asked for your opinion/feelings and this is what i'm feeling!!

I feel very sorry for the 14 year old teenager. I really hope he recovers really soon and still can do the thing he can do like walking, running, talking and the gift of sight. i would rather die than having nothing to do, like having fun and doing stuff with my friends, I'll probably get really depressed.
His parents must be so overjoyed when he survived.

I agree with Peaches on how Rangitihi was smart when it came to saving his own life.
Blue Hat:I think this article is another example of why kids shouldn't be left alone with matches. But i also feel sorry for Rangitihi's family because of all the skin that was damaged during the fire, in the end their were only miner injuries and no death's.
